John Wesley Shipp, who plays Jay Garrick in The Flash, will guest star as a remake of Golden Age Flash in season 2 of Stargirl.
The flash Jay Garrick Actor John Wesley Shipp Confirmed To Appear On Star Girl season 2. One of the new additions to the DC TV franchise last year was Star Girl, starring Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore. As the first season followed his origin story of becoming the titular hero, it also saw the resurgence of the Justice Society of America. While it initially started out as a DC Universe series, it also aired on The CW at the same time in a special deal between the two platforms. However, for Star Girl Season 2 will officially be a CW exclusive as the show will return sometime this year.

Before debuting, Star Girl was established to exist on its own Earth while it still existed in the Arrowverse. Through Crisis on Infinite Earths, Oliver Queen ended up rebooting the Multiverse as the Specter. But not only did he create Earth-Prime where most of the DC-CW heroes live, he also rebooted the design of the Multiverse. Before the crossover, Earth-2 was home to Harry Wells and Jessie Quick before it was destroyed by the Anti-Monitor. Now, it exists as the home of Star Girl And it looks like The CW is finally having the show crossover with the Arrowverse.
As reported by Weekly entertainment, Shipp, who played The Flash on his own series in the ’90s and currently Jay Garrick on the Arrowverse, is scheduled to appear on Star Girl. The CW has revealed that he will appear on the ninth episode of Star Girl season 2 in one “pivotal flashback episode” focusing on the original JSA. Whether or not this will be a retroactively changed version of Shipp’s Earth-3 Jay remains to be seen, as he has not appeared on Earth-Prime after the crisis. However, EW describes that this will officially establish it as the Golden Age Flash of Earth-2, something the universe did not have before.
In many ways, this makes perfect sense for the Arrowverse in a post-crisis world. It was always a bit weird that Jay came from Earth-3, which is better known as the home of the Crime Syndicate of America in DC lore. Thanks to Crisis on Infinite Earths, the creators behind all the shows had a new opportunity to change various aspects of their DC Universe. For Shipp to play Jay from Earth-2 aligns more with the comics and also gives Star Girl a new connection to the Arrowverse through The flash. This could have been the original plan for The flash Y Star Girl crossover that almost happened last season.
The flash Season 7 premieres in less than two weeks and may herald the coming Star Girl Cross. But since it’s meant to appear in flashbacks, it could imply that Jay is actually dead on Earth-2 today. It was strongly implied that he, along with several other JSA members, had died during their final battle with the Injustice Society. But it’s always possible that there could be a twist, similar to how Joel McHale’s Sylvester Pemberton appeared in the Star Girl end of season 1. Star Girl Season 2 hasn’t gotten a premiere date yet, but this is a great episode to look forward to with the appearance of John Wesley Shipp’s Jay Garrick.
